Dilapidated house collapses in Beconganj

Kanpur: A two-storey dilapidated house collapsed in seconds amid rain in the Yateemkhana area under the limits of Beconganj police station on Monday morning.
A car parked by the road side was also damaged after debris fell on it. The car driver however had a narrow escape. House-owner Rizwana lived in a two-storey house near Yateemkhana crossing and she had vacated it about a year ago. At present, someone else was living in it. After continuous rain showers since Sunday evening, at around 10.32 am on Monday, the bricks of the ground floor walls of the dilapidated house collapsed. Within seconds, the front part of the house also collapsed.
In the meantime, an SUV got buried under the rubble. As per the locals, the driver of the SUV told them that he had come to pick up a family living in the area. However, he somehow managed to escape leaving the vehicle behind. TNN
