Jaywalking baby croc halts city traffic
Vadodara: Commuters driving on the busy Dandia Bazaar Road in Vadodara came across an unusual jaywalker late on Sunday night. A four-foot-long baby crocodile was seen running across the road. Some curious commuters stopped to get a closer look but the ferocious jaws ensured that they remained at a distance.
A group of wildlife activists had to rescue the reptile. “We had to rescue it quickly as there were chances of some vehicle running over it,” said Hemant Vadhwana, a wildlife activist. The reptile was handed over to the forest department later. The baby crocodile had ventured out of Vishwamitri river and was migrating to some other water body.
Two other crocodiles were also rescued from other areas of Vadodara on Monday. A three-and-half-foot crocodile was spotted in an open plot on Tarsali-Dhaniyavi Road and another 1.5-foot-long crocodile was rescued from Khalipur village near Vadodara.
