Bihar: 2 women, six kids die in twin suicide

PATNA/ BAGAHA: Two women with their children died by suicide in two separate incidents in Kaimur and West Champaran districts on Monday and Sunday.
In the first incident, an anganwadi sevika along with her three children allegedly jumped into a well at Pateria village under Bhagwanpur police station area in Kaimur on Monday morning.
The police with the help of locals pulled them out from the well and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased were identified as Rinku Devi (32), wife of Ajay Kumar Bind, a resident of Pateria village, and their sons Balbir (8), Aryan (3) and daughter Richa alias Hasina (4). Kaimur SP Rakesh Kumar told this newspaper that according to locals, the woman had a fight with her husband after which she took this extreme step.
"The husband was detained for questioning, but he was later released as the police did not receive any complaint from the family of the deceased. Ajay claimed that his wife was mentally disturbed for last few days," the SP said.
The bodies had been sent to Sadar hospital for the post-mortem and the police were further investigating into the matter, he added.
In a similar incident, a woman along with her three children reportedly committed suicide by jumping into a rivulet called Shikarahana at Bagaha in West Champaran district on Sunday evening. The bodies of the woman and her daughter were recovered, but that of two children were missing.
The deceased were identified as Arati Devi (32), wife of Kamlesh Chaudhary; Sugandhi Kumari (8), their daughter, and sons Ashish Kumar (6) and Chhotu Kumar (4), residents of Pakari Nonia Patti under Lauria police station in West Champaran. According to locals, woman’s husband Kamalesh had brutally thrashed her over excess salt in the dinner that she had cooked on Sunday evening. His wife could not bear the atrocity and took this extreme step.
