Sawant ate non-veg before temple visit: Congman
Mangaluru: A Congress functionary in Udupi accused Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant of visiting Udupi Shri Krishna temple after eating a non-veg meal.
Ramesh Kanchan, Udupi block Congress president, accused BJP of hypocrisy, saying it had criticised former chief minister Siddaramaiah of the indiscretion but their partymen too are guilty of it.
But Dr Krishna Prasad, director, Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Udupi, who hosted a lunch for Sawant and others of the delegation, insisted the Goa CM only had vegetarian dishes.
“The Goa CM not only visited Sri Krishna Temple after eating non-veg food, but also received prasada from the Paryaya seer,” Kanchan said on Monday. “Does BJP have the moral right to criticise former chief minister Siddaramaiah or Congress leaders? Let them own up to mistakes they commit before pointing fingers at others.”
Mahesh Thakur, BJP Udupi city president, rubbished the claims and even suggested Kanchan was envious of BJP’s achievements in the district.
