BJP to have 33 dist, 185 mandal offices in Assam
Guwahati: The BJP in Assam, which got its permanent six-storey office building two days ago, will soon have 33 permanent district offices and 185 mandal offices in the state, which are being constructed with the donations of well-wishers and over 42 lakh workers of the party.
BJP’s state spokesperson and MP Pabitra Margherita, who addressed a press conference here in Guwahati on Monday, said the state headquarters building of the party, which was inaugurated by Union home minister Amit Shah and the party’s national president JP Nadda on Saturday, has been constructed completely with the donations of party workers.
The six-storey building, built over an area of one lakh square feet, was constructed at a cost of Rs 25 crore. The building can accommodate 5,000 people. Margherita said, “We have received a donation of Rs 10 also. There are people who love the party and support it for the development of the state and for this they have willfully come forward. The kind of support the party has been receiving across the state since it has come to power in 2016 is overwhelming.”
Lashing out at Congress for alleging that BJP has illegally procured the land and constructed the office building, he said, “Someone had moved Gauhati HC alleging illegal procurement of the land, in which the judgment was given in favour of the party saying that the allegation was based on newspaper articles only.” “BJP's growth story in Assam began in 1980, when we started from a very small office at Uzan Bazar, before moving to a rented office on the Zoo Road and then to Hengerabari. Our dream has come true with the new office. BJP now has 45 lakh members and we feel this office will serve the party for at least 40 years,” added Margherita.
