Jaipur: Welcoming tourists with the state’s rich heritage after the pandemic along with celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, markets in the city have started gearing up for Diwali festivities.
Traders’ associations of different markets in the city on Monday said that have started placing orders for lights and decorations for the festival of lights and the common theme this year is celebrating 75 years of Independence. Kailash Mittal, general secretary of Johri Bazaar Traders Association said, “This time we will be decorating the market with LED lights that have the tricolour. Each micro light will have all the colours of the flag. We have already placed orders for the lights and the markets will be completely lit up 10 days before Diwali.”
Traders from Chaura Rasta Bazaar said they are planning to showcase the tourism or heritage of the state to welcome foreign tourists to the city who have started visiting after two years.
“We want to welcome the tourists and are planning to celebrate the heritage of Rajasthan and showcase either monuments or something which is culturally important through the lights,” said Vivek Bharadwaj, general secretary of Chaura Rasta Vyapar Mandal. Meanwhile, traders are also requesting subsidy from the government on the electricity bills during the one week of festivities and are planning to meet the authorities this week.
