Transport dept readies to build bus bays in city
Jaipur: Working on chief minister’s Budget announcement of constructing four bus terminals here, officials from the state transport department on Monday said they would submit a detailed project report to the state government by December. Officials said a survey is being conducted to identify the land where these bus terminals can be constructed and how connectivity can be improved for passengers to commute to these terminals.
“We are conducting regular meetings and surveys to first identify the land. The main aim of constructing these bus terminals is to reduce the load on Sindhi Camp bus stand, which will be developed as the main inter-state bus terminal and the rest will be used as connecting terminals. For this, our focus is to ensure that these places are not very far away from the city so that commuting for passengers is easy. Meetings are being held with the chief and transport secretaries. Surveys will be completed this month and we will submit a DPR by year-end,” said Shishpal Ola, divisional manager with the state transport department.
The senior official said along with land identification, the department is also focusing on how bus routes, cab systems, auto-rickshaws and other modes of transportation can be managed at these locations to integrate the transportation system.
