Three weeks after Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico, tourism representatives are vowing harmony with all those affected by the storm’s heavy winds and rain. They are also making it clear that the island’s biggest hotels, airports, resorts, cruise ports and tourist attractions are all open, operational and in safe hands.
The storm resulted in enormous damage in parts of the U.S. territory, destroying homes and infrastructure, and knocking out power and water in many areas.
Brad Dean, the CEO of the island’s official tourism organization, Discover Puerto Rico, said that he does not wish to minimize anything regarding the storm’s lasting impacts.
Simultaneously, he also made a difference between Fiona and Hurricane Maria, the category five storm that made landfall approximately five years earlier to the day, giving rise to a recovery that continues even now.
Dean said that they are indeed blessed that much of the tourism industry in Puerto Rico is safe.
He voiced his understanding for those facing a long road ahead as an aftermath of Fiona, hoping to make sure that those who are thinking about tours to Puerto Rico — or those who have already planned their trip — have a secure visit.
