Jamshedpur: Muslims across the city celebrated Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, on Sunday with fervour by taking out Julus-e-Mohammadi. The celebratory procession witnessed a large participation.
Beginning with the special prayers at Gandhi maidan in Mango, the procession was led by a group of Islamic scholars headed by Mufti Ziaul Mustafa Misbahi of Tazeem Ahle Sunnat. Scores of enthusiasts, who arrived from adjoining areas of Olidih, Azadnagar, Kapali, Old Purulia road, Pardih, joined the procession.
A large number of the enthusiasts also rode motorbikes and cars carrying religious flags as the procession moved to Aam Bagan in Sakchi. Different groups from Sakchi, Golmuri, Barinagar, Telco congregrated at Aam Bagan.
Similarly, groups from Jugsalai, Bistupur, Pursudih, Dhatkidih, Shastrinagar (Kadma) and Sonari, congregrated at Dhatkidih centre ground, before proceeding to Aam Bagan.
Subsequently, the procession was jointly taken out from Sakchi and concluded at the Dhatkidih ground, after moving through the Straight Mile road, Kadma-Bistupur main road, covering 10km distance. Welcome gates, stalls offering water, soft drinks and sherbat dotted the procession route. Loudspeakers playing popular qawwalis at interjunctions added an element of joy to the atmosphere.
On reaching the destination point, ulemas and muftis addressed the crowd before it got dispersed.
Meanwhile, heavy security bandobast was made on the procession route to ensure peaceful culmination of the procession. DC Vijaya Jadhav monitored the movement of the procession from the district control room to ensure no untoward incident takes place. Other senior officials of the district too were on alert throughout the procession.
