Dharwad: The 90th Air Force Day was celebrated jointly by SDM College of Engineering and Technology and Air Force Association Hubli-Dharwad (Karnataka) chapter at SDMCET campus on Sunday
Noted paediatrician Dr Rajan Deshpande, speaking as the chief guest, said the Indian armed forces personnel are role models of society, and every school and college should organise programmes involving the personnel to make students responsible citizens.
He saluted the valour and bravery of Indian Air Force and other armed personnel for protecting the lives of citizens from enemy nations.
Air Commodore (retd) Aravind Shiggaon narrated how the concept of military superiority evolved from land power to sea power to air power.
“In the future, military superiority will depend on space power, and we should be prepared for the same,” he said. He reminded students that discipline in every walk of life was important and needed to be cultivated by all.
Air Commodore (retd) CS Havaldar, gave a presentation on the history of the Air force. He said the air force is the most technology-oriented force and hence called on engineers to apply their minds and develop new technologies to help IAF.
SDMCET dean GL Rajbanshi presided over the programme and Vasudev Parvati co-ordinated
The event was organised as per air force protocol and was attended by air veterans, their families and staff and students of SDMCET.
