No language to express Dima Hasao’s beauty, do visit it, says Hima Das
Silchar: She came, she saw, she was floored. Ace sprinter Hima Das — nicknamed the Dhing Express — was mesmerised by the natural beauty of Assam’s Dima Hasao district, known as the ‘Switzerland of the East’, during her three-day visit to the hill district starting Saturday.
“Dima Hasao is so beautiful. There is no language to express it,” she said.
The Arjuna awardee and DSP of Assam Police urged the tourists from across the country and overseas to explore the beauty of Dima Hasao, where she has “seen the unseen”. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “Please visit beautiful Dima Hasao.”
On her arrival on Saturday, Das was felicitated by the administration, public representatives and members of NGOs at the Haflong circuit house. She was accorded a warm welcome by the chief executive member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous council (NCHAC) Debolal Gorlosa, Assam minister Nandita Gorlosa, NCHAC chairperson Ranu Langthasa, DC (Dima Hasao) Naznin Sultana and members of different organisations and clubs.
Das also interacted with school students at Maibang in the district. She visited Jatinga, one of the 10 most mysterious places in India, also known as the ‘Bermuda Triangle for birds’ and paid a visit to the nearby ethnic village and the monolith houses of the Kachari kings.
In the evening, a cultural programme was lined up for the athlete at the Haflong district library auditorium.
On Sunday, the Haflong Battalion of HQ 21 Sector AR, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), on behalf of the Assam Rifles felicitated Das at NL Daulagupu Stadium in Haflong.
