VADODARA: Cops investigating the robbery case at a non-resident Indian’s (NRI) bungalow in the city are also trying to find any personal angle in the case. While the police are yet to get any clues, they have claimed of cracking the case within a couple of days.
Three robbers had entered the bungalow of Deepak Patel on Bhayli-Vasna Road on the night of October 7 and decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees along with Rs 40,000 in cash. “The complainant has married a few times earlier and got divorced too. Patel is having some disputes with one of his ex-wives over property. We are investigating if there is some personal angle in the crime,” said a police official.
“Patel claimed that he had one kilogramme of gold ornaments, of which he sold some and bought a car. The robbers stole 450 grams of the remaining gold that he had kept in his safe at his house,” the police added.
Efforts are on to trace the robbers with the help of CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area.
“The complainant said that the robbers fled on a motorbike. We are, therefore, trying to track down the vehicle but haven’t got any definite clues yet,” the police added.
On the night of October 7, the trio barged into Patel’s bungalow and one flashed a pistol at him.
The accused then thrashed Patel and threatened his wife before tying the couple with cello tape, and decamping with the gold ornaments and fleeing the scene.
