Uttar Pradesh: RPF team, women passengers help woman give birth on railway platform
Renu was spotted by on duty RPF constable Rashmi Singh, who alerted her colleagues for help.
LUCKNOW: An alert woman constable of RPF along with her colleagues and women passengers helped a pregnant passenger in her delivery.
The incident took place at around 9:50am on Monday at platform number 2 of Rae Bareli railway station, when woman passenger in labour identified as Renu (22) who was heading to Pratapgarh along with her husband Dharmendra (24) and three-year-old son in Padamavat express, had alighted at Rae Bareli due to severe labour pain.
Renu was spotted by on duty RPF constable Rashmi Singh, who alerted her colleagues for help. Rashmi along with one woman passenger helped Renu in delivery, while RFP sub-inspector Narshiram Gujjar, head constable Ananat and constable Dinesh Kumar surrounded the woman with cover.
“After Rashmi alert, our team rushed with towels and water towards the woman who was in labour. She (Rashmi) along with another woman passenger helped Renu in delivery. Later, with the help of GRP constable Shefali Gupta and Deependra Kumar Singh, Reenu was lifted in a stretcher and carried to an ambulance. After reaching the hospital, doctors declared Reenu and her newly born stable and healthy,” said RPF SHO Rae Bareli Alok Maurya.
According to railways, Reenu and Dharmendra hailed from Vijaymau village of Pratapgarh and were returning from New Delhi, where Dharmendra works in a factory.
