Retired cop booked for raping 20-yr-old tenant

Ludhiana: Police, on Saturday, booked a retired inspector for allegedly raping his 20-year-old tenant at gunpoint. The accused barged into her house, pointed a gun at her eight-month-old daughter and raped her.
Gurdeep Singh Bajwa, 62, a resident of Mundian Khurd, is a retired Punjab police inspector. The woman had started living in his house on rent with her husband and toddler about 20 days back.

In her police complaint, the woman said that on October 8, her husband had gone out in search of a job and she was home with her daughter when the accused barged into her room.
“My daughter was lying on the bed and as soon as he barged in, he brandished a gun at her and threatened me. The accused raped me, saying that he would shoot my daughter if I raised an alarm. Meanwhile, my husband reached home and on seeing him, he escaped,” the woman alleged.
She loged a police complaint on Saturday.
Investigating officer ASI Lakhwinder Masih said that the couple had started living at Gurdeep’s labour quarter about 20 days ago. An FIR has been filed against the accused under sections 376 (Rape), 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Arms Act. The accused has not been arrested yet.
