60 post offices to work from 8am to 8pm in Mumbai
Around 60 post offices out of total 229 across Mumbai will function four hours more than their normal working hours from Monday. This means 12 hours a day from existing eight hours and will make available all services during late evening hours like the ones during day hours. The decision was announced on Sunday, the World Post Day. This service will continue on a permanent basis to make post office services closer and more accessible to citizens especially the working class and senior citizens whose visits depend upon the adult members in the house “On the occasion of World Post Day 2022, India Post Mumbai Region launches 8am to 8pm services in 60 post offices of Mumbai city and suburbs,” said a press statement.
MBBS fees at Maha pvt college cut by over 40%
In probably a first, the Fee Regulating Authority has slashed the annual tuition fee for MBBS at Sangli’s Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences for 2022-23 to Rs 4. 8 lakh from Rs 8. 4 lakh. Six sought-after private colleges in the state have not demanded a hike in fees, while a few others have seen an increase of Rs 50,000 to up to Rs 1. 5 lakh.

Maharashtra tops states in foreigners entering illegally, 40% of total
A total of 182 foreign nationals were booked from 2019 to 2021 for entering Maharashtra illegally with forged Indian passports and procuring help from touts to live in the country. Maharashtra tops the list of such states, accounting for over 40% of the country’s cases (448). The offence is under the Indian Passport Act, with the next state on the list being Tripura (122), followed by Tamil Nadu (46), West Bengal (17) and Karnataka (14). The data was recently released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
2 kids drown in Dombivli quarry
Two boys, aged 12 and 14, who went for a swim in a water-filled quarry in Dombivli drowned, while their four friends managed to come out by holding on to one another. Police said the quarry is deep and the minor boys could not guess the depth and drowned.
