Tamil Nadu: MK Stalin elected unopposed as DMK chief for second time
Stalin announced the new office bearers, most of whom are serving a second term
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin was elected the president of the DMK for the second consecutive term at party's 15th general council held in Chennai on Sunday.
The grand event had an elaborately decorated stage with portraits of Periyar (DK founder EV Ramasamy), Anna (DMK founder C N Annadurai), Kalaignar (former DMK president M Karunanidhi) and Stalin.
Stalin, who was elected unanimously by the members of the party, announced the new office bearers, most of whom are serving a second term.
Kanimozhi Karunanidhi was elected the deputy general secretary and is among five leaders holding the post.
Duraimurgan was again elected the DMK general secretary and KN Nehru the chief secretary of the party.
TR Baalu was re-elected as treasurer. The four other deputy general secretaries included I Periyasamy, A Raja, Anthiyur Selvaraj, and Ponmudy.
