BeMC seeks 10cr from govt for disaster mgmt
Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Saturday sought a sum of Rs 10 crore from the state government to strengthen its disaster management capacity.
A resolution in this regard was adopted at a meeting wherein BeMC mayor Sanghamitra Dalei, Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda, several corporators and officials participated.
The issue of post-disaster needs assessment was discussed in the meeting. “The civic body requires additional support from the government to strengthen its disaster management wing. We seek Rs 10 crore to purchase modern machineries to be utilised in the aftermath of disasters like cyclone, flood and heavy rain,” Dalei said.
