3 mobile phones, tobacco packs seized from jail

Ludhiana: Officials of Ludhiana Central Jail seized three mobile phones and 10 tobacco packets from jail inmates.
Assistant superintendent, Ludhiana Central jail, Saroop Chand said that a special checking drive was conducted in the jail, during which a mobile phone was seized from an inmate, Balwant Singh.
He also said that another mobile phone and eight tobacco packets were recovered near barrack number 6, sources said.
In another case, jail officials seized a mobile phone from inmate Balwinder Singh and recovered two tobacco packets abandoned near tower number 2 of Ludhiana jail. Jail officials wrote to division number 7 police station, following which two separate FIRs were registered.
