Noida: Install cameras, verify workers, traders advised before Diwali

NOIDA: Keeping the upcoming festivals in mind, traders, shop owners in Noida were directed by police on Saturday to ensure their stores have working CCTV cameras, have carried out police verification of their employees and to make sure the guns of security guards at these stores are loaded at all times.
A meeting was held at the Sector 108 police commissionerate in Noida between traders of the district as well as senior officials of Gautam Budh Nagar including police commissioner Alok Singh, joint police commissioner RS Chhabi and DCPs of all three zones.
"Involvement of the store employees is found in most of the incidents taking place with businessmen and traders. Hence, police verification of employees is of utmost importance. We have also told all industrial units and commercial establishments to be up to date with standards related to fire safety so that mishaps can be avoided," Alok Singh, commissioner of police said .
On Friday, a similar meeting was held between members of Noida Jewellers Welfare Association and Noida zone police officials in Sector 18 in order to discuss matters related to security of jewellers in view of the upcoming festive season.
SK Jain, general secretary of Noida Jewellers Welfare Association said that jewellers are gearing up for an increased footfall in their stores for the next couple of weeks.
"With Karva Chauth, Dhanteras and Diwali coming up, followed by the wedding season, the next three months are going to be very busy for jewellers. Hence, a meeting was held with local police officials in order to improve security arrangements in the area," Jain said.
According to assistant commissioner of police, Rajneesh Verma, Sector 18 market is a hub of jewellery shops in Noida.
"We are carrying out intense patrolling in the market areas on a regular basis. The jewellers were given suggestions on how to improve the security arrangements of their shops so that police officials can work efficiently to nab any suspects in the event of a robbery or theft," Verma said.
