Hyderabad: Gold worth Rs 2.28 crore seized at RGI Airport, 6 held

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad customs sleuths intercepted six gold smugglers at the RGI Airport on Saturday and recovered 4.3 kilo gold worth ₹2.28 crore.
Customs officials intercepted three women who arrived from Dubai by flight EK-526. The passengers were trying to smuggle in 24 karat gold chains and the gold paste by concealing them in undergarments. Customs officials were able to seize 3,283 grams of gold worth ₹1.72 crore from their possession.
Subsequently, two men from Kuwait were caught while they were trying to smuggle in gold bars and jewellery, all weighing about 855 grams, concealed in baggage. The team also intercepted a woman passenger arrived from Dubai in flight EK-524 when she tried smuggling in gold paste by concealing it in a hair band and a dress. tnn
