Prayagraj: STF busts ATM cloning racket, 4 held

PRAYAGRAJ: Sleuths of special task force (Prayagraj unit) on Friday claimed to have busted an inter-state racket involved in ATM cloning and cheating and arrested its four key members near Ram Bhawan crossing, Shankargarh in trans-Yamuna area while planning to cheat ATM kiosk visitors.
The police have also seized 38 ATM cards, seven mobile sets, one Aadhar card, one forged Aadhar card, two bikes, and Rs 16,840 cash from their possession. The arrested persons were identified as Rishikesh Pal, Sidharth Kumar, Rahul Pal and Sanjay Kumar, all residents of Pratapgarh.
STF officials claimed that the arrested persons confessed to be part of an inter-state racket involved in ATM cloning and cheating who have been operating their activities in different states for the past three years. The racketeers used to target crowded ATM in rural areas and dupe money from bank customers who have less idea of ATM operations.
Two days back, the accused had duped a man worth Rs 20,000 in Reewa district of MP and escaped to Shankargarh. The gang was active in UP, MP, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Chattishgarh.
