LUCKNOW: State BJP will hold meetings at every local body and wards to boost preparations for the urban local body polls.
State president of the party Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary on Saturday held a meeting with the district presidents and district incharge along with the coordinators appointed for the urban local body polls. Deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak and state general secretary (organization) Dharampal Singh were also present in the meeting.
The party will hold meetings in local bodies on October 14 and October 15 and at ward (Shakti Kendra) level on October 16 and October 17.
"When we have our government at the local level then only the benefits of the welfare schemes of the central and state government will reach the ground level and we will be able to perform better for development and welfare of people," said state party president.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "Though SP, BSP and Congress are in total despair we do not have to take opposition as weak and work very hard to contest urban local body polls." He added that the party has to reach out to voters and ensure they come to the polling booth.
"There is a need to verify the voters' list in every booth. Party workers should start door-to-door visits to get new voters added to the list. Every worker of the party at every level needs to be activated," said state general secretary (organization) Dharampal Singh.
