Guwahati: There is no trace of a 25-year-old trainee mountaineer from Guwahati, who went missing along with several others of a 41-member mountaineering team after it was caught in an avalanche while returning from the mount Draupadi Ka Danda-II peak in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
Golap Hazarika, father of missing mountaineer from Guwahati — Deepshikha — is camping at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi from Wednesday for news of his daughter.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) told TOI over phone that only four out of 26 bodies recovered so far have been identified. “The rest are yet to be identified. Deepshikha has not been identified yet,” USDMA said. According to the NIM’s rescue bulletin, 29 members of the 41-member group were stranded after the avalanche struck the team. Of the 41, the rescue teams have recovered 26 bodies so far and search and rescue operations are on for the remaining three.
