Migrant worker beaten to death, probe under way
Gurgaon: A man died, and another left critically injured after a group of people thrashed them in Sonipat district on Thursday, but it is unclear what led to the incident.
Police have initiated an investigation and registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against the unidentified accused at the Sector 27 police station in Sonipat.
Police said the victims were migrant labourers -- while Krishna (30), a resident of Adarsh Colony, died in the incident, Rinku (31) is currently in the hospital with critical injuries. According to the complainant, Neeraj Kumar, the younger brother of Krishna, he received a call from Rinku’s wife that some unidentified persons murdered his brother and injured her husband.
“After getting the call, I rushed to the local general hospital in Sonipat, where police informed me about my brother's death,” Kumar said in his police complaint.
He added that his brother Krishna, along with Rinku, worked at a petrol pump. He claimed that some unidentified persons killed his brother on Thursday night, using sharp-edged weapons and bricks.
Investigation officer (IO) Devender Singh said, “We have handed over the body to the family members after an autopsy. The victim died after he received a serious head injury. Meanwhile, Rinku is critical and unfit to give a statement. We have formed teams to search for the accused.”
