LUCKNOW: Police on Friday nabbed an auto-lifter who sold stolen bikes after forging vehicle papers in the name of the original owner. The accused, Pravin Kumar Chaurasia (25), who has 11 criminal cases against him across the state, was arrested from Aliganj on a tip off .
Nine bikes, several stamp papers and four fake Aadhar cards with different names were recovered from his house in Kalyanpur. He has been booked under the charges of theft, cheating and forgery, said additional deputy commissioner of police, North zone, Abijith R Shankar.
Shankar said Chaurasia first used to steal a bike and then find out its original owner through E-parivahan app. Thereafter, he used to create a fake Aadhar card through an app in the original owner's name but paste his own photograph on it before putting an advertisement on social media sites.
