‘Nothing wrong in show of hands for civic voting’

Calangute: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has said there is nothing wrong in the election for Margao Municipal Council chairperson being decided by a show of hands.
Lobo said whenever there is voting in the legislative assembly, be it on a vote of confidence or to pass a bill or otherwise, it is always done by a show of hands to ensure complete transparency. “Let people of Margao and Fatorda know who is supporting whom,” he said.
He said that the state government’s proposal to bring in an ordinance to subvert secret ballot voting in civic bodies is simply to correct a long-standing anomaly. tnn
