Margao: If GFP president Vijai Sardesai and AAP convenor Amit Palekar cosied up to each other on Friday, the day, coincidently, also saw AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva publicly acclaiming art and culture minister Govind Gaude for loosening the purse strings for various development works in their constituencies.
Gaude, however, was quick to repudiate the suggestion that the public display of warmth between him and AAP MLAs had any political overtones. “No, this is definitely not Mission AAP. The AAP MLAs had been consistently requesting me to visit their constituencies and review the development works. There’s no politics in this,” Gaude told reporters.
The minister visited Benaulim and Velim constituencies as a part of the state government’s “Mantri tumchea dari” initiative. He visited five of the seven panchayat areas under Benaulim constituency and reviewed all development works pertaining to his departments of art and culture and sports.
Gaude inspected the community hall at Cavelossim and the extension of the community hall at Carmona. He reviewed the open gym concept that’s to be executed at Orlim, the beautification works of Laxmi temple at Benaulim and inspected the works of garden and gym at Seraulim.
In Velim constituency, he took stock of the work of the sports complex at Velim and a playground at Sirlim. He directed officials to expedite the administrative processes of the works and to ensure their speedy completion.
“The visit received spontaneous response from the public. However, a single visit won’t achieve results. I will soon plan a follow up visit and review all the works with officials and local MLAs,” Gaude said.
