Regularise our houses: Vasco fishermen

Vasco: Fisheries minister Nilkanth Halarnkar has assured the Vasco fishing community of Katem Baina and Desterro of resolving their long-pending issues after discussions with the chief minister.
In a memorandum addressed to the fisheries minister, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar demanded that the houses of the traditional fishermen be regularised. Among Amonkar’s other demands were the setting up of a ramp and loading points, a procurement centre for fish and net repair sheds.
Halarnkar was on a day-long visit to Vasco on Friday during which he addressed the issues of the traditional fishing community, who were represented by Amonkar and Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar.
Salkar raised the issue of the dilapidated fishing jetty at Khariwada and asked Halarnkar to follow up on the developmental projects proposed at Khariwada bay
