Dhanbad puja committee, cops spar

Dhanbad: An altercation broke out between a Durga Puja organiser and Jharia police over idol immersion wherein the former claimed that the latter lathicharged them on Thursday.
According to the puja committee members, the priest hired for their puja sustained serious leg injuries when a speeding truck hit him while he was crossing the road. But the police let the truck and the driver go without lodging a formal FIR, they claimed. Upset over alleged police action, the committee members delayed the immersion ceremony on Wednesday.
