MYSURU: Rahul Gandhi, who together with Sonia Gandhi visited Nagarahole Tiger Reserve (NTR), has appealed to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai to save an elephant calf whose tail and trunk are severely injured.
In his letter to the CM, Rahul said he came across “this calf fighting for life”.
“We happened to come across the painful sight of an injured baby elephant with its mother. I wanted to cross political boundaries and appeal to your sense of compassion to intervene and save the little elephant,” he said in the letter. He also sent a picture of mother and calf.
“I’m confident that it will survive if given proper treatment. I hope you will extend timely assistance to save the little elephant,” Rahul said.
NTR director Harshakumar Chikkanaragund said he immediately instructed his staff to take care of the calf.
