Devendra Fadnavis, while chairing the first review meeting of DPC, also rejected the plea of officials to give extension of at least four months (after year-end) to complete the development that was affected by the stay
Nagpur: In the first six months of this fiscal, the district has spent only Rs27.24 lakh for development works, even as the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi led state government had allocated Rs858.7 crore under the district planning committee (DPC).
After the change in reign, Eknath Shinde led government had stalled all works sanctioned by the previous government. On Thursday, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also district guardian minister, announced revocation of the state government’s stay and directed the district administration to accelerate the process of development works.
Fadnavis, while chairing the first review meeting of DPC, also rejected the plea of officials to give extension of at least four months (after year-end) to complete the development affected by the stay.
Out of the Rs858.7 crore allocated by the MVA government, Rs221 crore have been earmarked for various works. Rs4.35 crore funds have been disbursed till the end of August, 2022.
The deputy chief minister praised administrations of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for their service during Covid-19 pandemic. He also announced to provide additional funds for the two medical institutions.
He expressed concern over contractors quoting below 30% of estimates for many civil works resulting into shoddy works. Fadnavis said that henceforth officials concerned who approve the work will be held accountable. He also asked the officials to study and provide financial assistance to women self-help group from Mahal.
‘Unauthorized constructions to be checked’

“Steps will soon be taken to legalise illegal constructions in the metro region subject to court orders. Implementation of Gunthewari in metro region is in progress. But the survey will be done without any haste. Adequate precautions will be taken to ensure that illegal construction is not encouraged,” Fadnavis told media persons after the DPC meeting.
