BENGALURU: KR Puram police registered a criminal case against three brothers for allegedly beating their neighbour's adopted Indie dog with wooden logs after it bit their pet canine on Monday.
The suspects are Rahul, Rajath and Ranjith, residents of Bhattarahalli near KR Puram. The injured dog's parent owner Gaddigappa filed a complaint against the siblings.
A video of the suspects beating the dog on Gaddigappa's house premises went viral on social media, and netizens demanded police action against the suspects.
Gaddigappa told police he brought stray dog 'Achchu' three years ago and was taking care of it. Achchu had gone to the next street around 10am on Monday and fought with the siblings' dog. Both dogs were bit by each other and Achchu returned to Gaddigappa's residence after the fight.
Around 10pm, Ranjith, Rahul and Rajath came to Gaddigappa's residence with wooden logs and hit his dog. When Gaddigappa and his family members tried to stop them, Rahul allegedly assaulted Gaddigappa too and threatened he would be killed if he tried to save Achchu. Gaddigappa rushed Achchu to a veterinary hospital and on Tuesday filed a complaint with KR Puram police against the trio.
Police registered a case under sections of IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
