Jaipur: Chief minister
Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the much-awaited Sodala Elevated Road and a few other proposed projects of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Thursday evening.
JDA has constructed the 2.8-km long elevated road that would connect the LIC Bhawan at Ambedkar Circle and Sodala. “The total cost for this project is Rs 250 crore. Cost for the rest of the projects, to be inaugurated on Thursday – taken together is Rs 222 crores,” a JDA release stated.
Initially, JDA had planned to inaugurate the Sodala Elevated Road on August 15 to mark Independence Day. However, the date was postponed as works were still under progress. Once the elevated road is inaugurated, it will provide relief from traffic congestion between Sodala and Rambagh Circle. The road is expected to save nearly 40 minutes of travelling time and decongest Hawa Sadak as it would offer a non-stop drive at a speed of up to 50 kmph. The other proposed projects to be inaugurated on Thursday are - construction works for a guest house in Rajasthan International Center Campus and a sewerage treatment plant in Prithviraj Nagar.
Ghelot will also lay the foundation stone for construction works of the main trunk line of
Vyas and for constructions of two main drainage lines in the city.
