Rajkot: A three-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car when he was playing in his society premise in Rajkot on Wednesday.
The police booked the car driver Kishan Savaliya, a resident of the same society, for causing death due to negligence.
According to police, on Wednesday Shyam (3) was playing with his father Mehul Hirani on the premises of Aalap Royal Palm Residency in Mavdi area.
Police inspector of Rajkot taluka police station M R Gondaliya said, “While playing, Shyam’s father threw a ball and he went to catch it. At the same time, Savaliya was entering society in his car. The front wheel of the car hit the boy. Shyam fell down and was rushed to hospital, but he did not survive.”
Gondaliya said that Shyam was declared brought by the doctors at the hospital.
Savaliya was booked under Indian Penal Code section 304 A (causing death due to negligence).
According to sources, Hirani is a government servant and was playing with his son as it was a holiday on account of Dusshera.
Police said that Shyam was the only child of the Hirani family. Eyewitnesses said that Hirani had rushed to save his son when he saw the car entering the society premises. He also screamed to alert the car driver, but it was too late.
