Coimbatore: Much to the relief of guest workers from northern states, the North Eastern Railway has announced special trains between Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and the city. The trains would commence the services in the second week of this month.
The special train from Gorakhpur to the city (05303) would run on Saturdays from October 8 to November 5 and the one from the city to Gorakhpur (05304) on Tuesdays from October 11 to November 8 to clear the festival rush.
The train (05303) would start from Gorakhpur at 8.30am every Saturday and reach the city at 7.25am on Mondays. The train (05304) would then leave the city at 4.40am every Tuesday and reach Gorakhpur at 8.35am on Thursdays via Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Katpadi, Perambur, Vijayawada, Nagpur, Bhopal, Kanpur and Gonda.
Pointing out that the guest workers were struggling to get confirmed tickets on Raptisagar Express, K Jayaraj, a member of Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee of Salem railway division, said the special trains would benefit the guest workers in the western region.
