Muslim League, Mahasabha reason for partition: Khader

Mangaluru: Deputy leader of opposition in the Karnataka legislative assembly, U T Khader, alleged that the Muslim League and Hindu Mahasabha caused the partition of India.

He told reporters here on Tuesday, that only the Congress had written to the British government not to divide India. “The two-nation theory was advocated by the Muslim League and the Hindu Mahasabha, which the BJP supports. While one organisation was demanding an Islamic nation, another wanted a Hindu nation. Only the Congress president had written several letters to the British government for a united India. There are documents for these developments. This should be a subject for public debate. However, the BJP has been spreading lies, blaming the Congress, at a time when Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has been receiving overwhelming response from the people. However, people will not trust them,” Khader said.

On the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, Khader said that it was a Congress padayatra, and it is up to the people to decide whether they have to take part in it or not.

“Why should the BJP release advertisements to the media against the Bharat Jodo Yatra? This shows that the BJP is afraid of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress. The padayatra led by Rahul Gandhi depicts the pain of people, who are dismayed over various social and economic issues, as well as lack of harmony in society. The padayatra has exposed the false propaganda that the BJP has been disseminating about Rahul Gandhi. He has been proving his worth as a national leader, by reaching out to the people through the padayatra,” Khader said.

When Rahul Gandhi was pointing out the flaws in the government policies, the BJP said that it was a politically motivated statement.

“Now the RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale has also stated that nearly 20 crore people are still below the poverty line in India. If the BJP government fails to answer this, then they should agree that what Rahul Gandhi spoke was right,’’ the MLA said.

On the CBI filing a closure report in the Paresh Mesta death case, calling it an accident, Khader said that the BJP should apologise before the people. “The CBI closure report has proved that the BJP is engaged in doing politics over dead bodies,” he said.
