It's worked well so far (as a back-up coach), it started from the Ireland series, the one England T20I (1st match) and the Zimbabwe series. Obviously, need to cover up for Rahul (Dravid) given his work commitments and the T20 WC coming up now. Have a good bunch of cricketers, they are all looking forward to the series, the competition between them is good, we are spoiled for choices considering the amount of talent we have. It'll be difficult for the selectors to get the right team going into the 2023 50-over World Cup. All the youngsters are doing well, they know that they'll not get too many opportunities once the main players return, but this is a chance to perform well and keep themselves in the hunt when the strongest side is being picked.
Update - Unfortunately, the covers are back on again
Looks like another delay is on the cards as it has started to drizzle again
Live pictures coming in - Warm-ups taking place!
Players from both the teams are in the middle, warming up ahead of the start. The match officials are also in the middle having a close eye on the weather. We are set for the 2:45 pm toss time!
Another update - Rain has disappeared and the covers are being removed!
Toss at 2:45 pm | Match starts at 3 pm IST
Further delay - Rain is back and so are the covers
It was supposed to be 45-over per-side contest provided the match started by 3:00 pm IST. But now as the rain has returned, the 3 pm start looks unlikely.
Update - It's raining again!
The toss was scheduled for 2:30 pm but skies have opened up again. The covers are now being put back on.
Good news coming in from Lucknow!
The covers are being removed and looks like we might have a toss time soon. No rain as of now!
No signs of match action yet!
The rain has stayed away for the the last 20 minutes or so but the covers are still firmly in place. The super-sopper is doing the work but the chances of match beginning any time soon look grim.
The wait continues...
It comes down to the cliché - control what you can only control. Unfortunately the rain is around and we can't do much about it, hopefully we can get on to play. I think T20 and One-Day cricket are kind of similar, it is just a longer version of it. You have similar game plans and obviously it is less pressure than T20s, I would say the processes are pretty similar. Lucky enough with leagues like the IPL, we play a lot with these players and against them as well, so information can be easily passed around. Analysis has been done and has to be done.
The covers are firmly in place as the wait continues!

Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers are my idols. They are highly experienced in international cricket. I looked at them and wondered how would I talk to them. But then they talked to me themselves, it was a good moment for me. It gave me confidence. I have learnt a lot from Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, and AB De Villiers in the nets while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Especially Virat, who carries the same intensity in both nets and matches. It feels good watching it and I try to add on that intensity in my own game
