NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: In view of the Dussehra celebrations on Wednesday, the Noida and Ghaziabad traffic police have chalked out route diversion plans, effective from 2 pm on Wednesday till the programme ends.
Noida will see traffic restrictions near the Sector 21 stadium and Sector 62, and there will be route diversions around Kavi Nagar in Ghaziabad, where prominent Ramlila fairs are on.
Noida traffic officials anticipate a nearly 50,000 footfall near the Ramlila sites on Dussehra. An advisory said traffic movement would remain banned on roads to the Ramlila venues, but vehicles can use alternate routes. "The vehicular movement will be stopped on roads leading to the Noida Stadium from sectors 12-22-56, sectors 10-21, the sectors 8, 10, 11, and 12 stretches,” the advisory said.
There will also be a ban on vehicles on other routes - intersection of sectors 8,10,11,12 to Noida Stadium and Spice Mall; Metro Hospital to sectors 12, 22; sectors 31, 25 to Spice Mall, etc.
Ganesh Saha, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Gautam Budh Nagar, said that vehicles moving from sectors 10, 21 to Ghijore via the sectors 12-22-56 trisection would have to use the Jal Vayu Vihar trisection and then take the Nithari road. Similarly, traffic from sectors 12, 22, 56 moving towards Nithari via the Noida Stadium route will have to use the Sector 57 intersection and then move through Ghijore to reach their destination. Parking will be available at the vacant plot adjacent to Spice Mall in Sector 21. “If there is a need, we will also block traffic movement from the Sector 62 police post to the Fortis Hospital trisection,” Saha added.
The traffic police have advised people to plan their travel accordingly to avoid traffic jams on Wednesday. Traffic police have also issued a helpline number, 9971009001, to guide commuters.
In Ghaziabad, a huge crowd gathers at the Ramleela ground in Kavi Nagar every year to see the Ravan Dahan. Ramanand Kushwaha, SP (traffic), said that heavy and commercial vehicles would not be allowed to take the route from Sajan Mor to the Ghantaghar junction from 2pm on Wednesday till programme end. All these vehicles will take the Vivekananda Nagar flyover to Hapur Chungi instead.
Heavy vehicles are also not allowed from Meerut Tiraha to Hapur Tiraha. "All these vehicles will go towards Old Bus Adda to Hapur Chungi or Ghukna Mor to ALT Chauraha and then take Hapur Chungi for their destination," Kushwaha said.
Vehicles are not allowed to travel from Hapur Tiraha to Ghantaghar. "A heavy traffic police, jointly with police force from Police Line and police stations concerned, will stop any offenders and issue them challans. If required, police will seize the vehicles," the SP (traffic) said.
Police have issued a helpline number, 9643322904. Residents and commuters can also contact traffic inspector Santosh Singh on 7007847097 for any help, Kushwaha added.
