Mere Sai actress Anaya Soni, who urgently needs a kidney transplant, says, ‘It has been difficult but I’m trying to stay strong’
Anaya Soni recently posted on social media about her health condition. The 34-year-old Mere Sai actress fainted a week ago while shooting on the sets of her show and had to be rushed to the hospital. She is on dialysis and needs a kidney transplant urgently. Anaya, who has been suffering from kidney issues since the past 11 years, says, “My parents are currently with me in the hospital. They are very worried and wondering what to do next because I need to go in for a kidney transplant and that requires a lot of money. I don’t know the exact amount, but it can be around Rs 30 lakhs or more.”
She adds, “We are a middle-class family and medical costs are so high. My mom and dad run a small shop in our hometown Amravati. People think that actors earn a lot, which is not the case. We actors get our payments after three months and our day-to-day expenses are also something that we have to take care of.”

Anaya began her acting career in 2011; she did a Rajasthani film titled Dangal, after which she got into television and did shows like Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Jamai Raja 2 and Ishq Mein Marjawan. Even though she knows people in the industry, it’s not easy to ask for financial help, she says. “I don’t know what to say and how to ask for help. Some people have called me and said that they will pray for me. I value that, but I also need money to get treated. I will reach out to Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) for help, too,” she says.

Meanwhile, the production house of the show Mere Sai has been helpful. She shares, “I am in touch with producer Ninad Vaidya, who is helping me find a kidney donor. The production house has said that they will help with the expenses. Our director Sachin Ambre also called me recently.”

She is anxious about her health, but is trying to stay calm. “I just hope that I am able to get a kidney and the money for the transplant. It has been difficult, but I’m trying to stay strong... I will fight it out,”she says.

This is not the first time that Anaya is going through a kidney transplant. She says, “In 2015, I was on dialysis and had to undergo a transplant even then. It was a tough period and my body didn’t react well to the dialysis. That time my father gave me his kidney due to which, our cost for the transplant was around Rs 10 lakhs. I had money then because I was doing several films and TV shows and had my savings, too. But this time, I have to find a kidney donor and after the transplant, too, I have to take a lot of care. The expenses don’t stop.”
