Pilot reaches out to detractors, meets key min from CM’s camp
Jaipur: After a brief lull following the storm created by the aborted Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting and CM Ashok Gehlot bowing out of the presidential race, political parleys began back in the state.
After reaching Jaipur on Monday evening, Gehlot's rival Sachin Pilot reached out to his detractors. On Monday night, he paid a visit to cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas — his one-time confidante turned CM loyalist — and closeted with him for over an hour at the latter’s Civil Lines bungalow. The next day, around 2pm on Tuesday, Khachariyawas called on Gehlot at the CMO in the secretariat. Soon thereafter, Pilot returned to Delhi.
Talking to the media after discussions with the CM, Khachariyawas played down his meeting with the former deputy CM. He said Pilot had a friendly chat with him over coffee the previous night. The minister said, “We sit beside each other in the assembly and often talk. If he comes to my house, there is nothing new in it.”
