NEW DELHI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said that India needs a new population policy. Speaking at the annual Dussehra rally of the RSS in Nagpur, Bhagwat said that, the new population policy should be applicable to everyone equally.
Bhagwat said that population requires resources to grow. If it grows without building resources, it becomes a burden. There is another view in which population is considered an asset. We need to work on a population policy for all keeping both aspects in mind, he said.
Touching upon issues related to women, the RSS head said that, "We need to treat women with equality and empower them with freedom of making their own decisions."
Bhagwat also warned against scare-mongering and said that it is dangerous. He said that, it is a myth that the Sangh poses a danger to minorities. This is neither the nature of Sangh nor of Hindus. Sangh resolves to stand on the side of brotherhood, amity and peace, he added.
