Govt invites bids for ethanol plant at Sanjivani factory
Panaji: The state government has invited bidders to redevelop the existing Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana (SSSK) and set up an ethanol production plant through public private partnership (PPP).
As the factory will be developed under the design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) basis, the government intends to pre-qualify and shortlist suitable bidders who will be eligible for participation at the bid stage for awarding the project by way of a transparent, competitive bidding process.
Requests for quotation (RFQ) documents will be available from Thursday, October 6, and a pre-application conference will be held on October 31. The last date for submission of online applications in the prescribed RFQ document is November 25.
The state government had in May decided to redevelop the SSSK, Goa’s sole sugar factory, which is over five decades old. To this end, it had constituted the Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee consisting of 21 members under the chairmanship of NRI commissioner and ex-member of parliament, Narendra Sawaikar, to recommend appropriate measures to resolve the various hardship faced by sugarcane farmers.
