Cop dies after bike jumps off speed-breaker
Nagpur: A 48-year-old head constable Rajendra Mishra was killed in a road accident after his bike jumped off a speed-breaker near police headquarters. He had sustained severe head and leg injuries on September 13 and was declared dead on Monday at a private hospital.
It’s learnt that Mishra was rushing to attend the night roll call at the police headquarters when the accident took place on the road, which was in bad condition for a long time.
An injured Mishra was rushed to a private hospital where he subsequently succumbed to head injuries. Cops are now probing whether Mishra was wearing a helmet, as one of the major cause of his death was head injury.
A case of accidental death was registered at Gittikhadan police station.
Subsequently, this was the second cop from the headquarters to have died while rushing to attend the roll call, without which he would have been considered absent.
In an earlier incident, a cop died in an accident while she was rushing to attend the morning roll call. The cops posted at headquarters pointed out that the senior officers come at 11.30am but make the subordinates attend roll calls early morning and again in the evening.
