Landing of flight from Tehran puts Jaipur airport on high alert
Jaipur: The authorities of Jaipur International Airport and the local police along with a bomb disposal squad were on high alert on Monday morning upon receiving information that an international flight from Tehran to Gangzhou was likely to land at the airport.
In fact, the plane’s pilot had asked to land at Delhi’s international airport following a bomb threat, but the air traffic controller gave him the option of landing at Jaipur airport. However, the pilot refused to land in Jaipur and later left the Indian airspace.
According to Jaipur airport officials and police, the Delhi ATC informed the Jaipur airport at 9:30am about the possible landing of a passenger plane from Tehran to Gangzhou. Airport authorities and police, along with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and a bomb disposal squad, were soon ready and on standby mode. “We were asked if we can ensure the landing of this aircraft, and we were ready. Since a bomb threat was also mentioned, we had alerted the local police and the bomb disposal squad to meet any contingency. However, we were later told that the pilot had refused to land in Jaipur and left the Indian airspace,” said Charan Singh, the coordination in-charge at Jaipur airport. TNN
