Odisha: Mom, lover held for killing 3-year-old son, burying body

KENDRAPADA: Police in Kendrapada district on Monday arrested a 32-year-old married woman and her 26-year-old paramour for allegedly murdering her three-year-old son and then burying the body at Matiapada village under Pattamundai police limits on Sunday.
On Monday, police in the presence of a magistrate exhumed the body after the child's 12-year-old sister alleged that her mother, Sasmita Nath and her paramour, Laxmidhar Bai killed the child. Police sent the body to the district headquarters hospital, Kendrapada, for postmortem, said Tapan Rout, IIC of Pattamundai police station.
Police said the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. "We still do not know the modus operandi," said Rout.
According to preliminary investigation, Sasmita's husband, Sukant Nath, is working as a plumber in Bangalore since the last two years. During this time, the woman got into a relationship with Laxmidhar Bai, her daughter's tuition teacher, who used to come to their house to teach, said the police officer.
