Crackdown on errant bikers for safety of devotees
Jamshedpur: The district administration did its best even in the late hours of Saptami night to ensure that Durga Puja revellers did not face traffic bottlenecks on roads in front of big-budget pandals.
District SSP Prabhat Kumar, who, before the pujas had held several rounds of meetings with his juniors, had passed strict orders that errant bikers on the roads should be dealt with an iron hand.
Kumar late on Sunday night was himself present at Sakchi roundabout, one of the busiest places in the heart of Steel City to ensure bikers and other motorists violating traffic laws are punished.
More than a dozen bikes were impounded at Sakchi roundabout “naka bandi” during the surprise checks on Saptami night. The two-wheelers have been seized and the bikers will face necessary legal action, the police said on Monday.
Kumar said such checks will continue on all days of the Durga Puja at various points of the city.
