Won’t tolerate corruption in grain purchase from farmers: Fadnavis
Nagpur: Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said all those involved in a suspected grain procurement scam in Bhandara won’t be spared. Speaking at a public event organized by MP Sunil Mendhe on Monday, Fadnavis said he won’t tolerate corruption when it came to giving farmers their dues.
“In Bhandara district a big chunk of grain purchase, as mentioned on documents, is now missing. Now, that huge missing quantity will now have to searched, government has not found it yet. And if we cannot find, then whoever is involved in it shall be punished,” said Fadnavis.
The DCM said that soon the time to procure grains by the government will come and checks and balances, apart from logistical arrangements will have to be made.
Fadnavis said Bhandara district has great scope for developing as a tourist destination. “Bhandara has good scope for tourism, some of which is already showing benefits. MLA Narenda Bhondekar too suggested something interesting, about tourism activities in the backwater of Gosikhurd,” said Fadnavis. He added that this is something which could be taken forward.
“Irrigation department is also with me so let me discuss with officials and prepare a proposal regarding this,” said Fadnavis.
He assured the public that very soon steps will be taken for setting up a government medical college in Bhandara.
Earlier in the day, Fadnavis met with a group of protestors at Samvidhan Chowk who had gathered under the banner of Organization For Rights of Humans (OFRH), Maharashtra. The protestors said that their posts were removed from reserved category.
A protestor at the site said the caste verification committee rejected her certificate after almost three decades of service and now her pension has not started.
Addressing them Fadnavis said, “I met your coordination committee yesterday and I have also spoken to our law department regarding this. We will try to find a way around this.”
