Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Monday at 11:25AM

& Industries(up 2.93%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 0.89%), Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.54%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 0.51%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.36%), Sakthi Sugars(up 0.22%) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.12%) were among the top gainers.

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 3.49%), EID Parry(down 1.81%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 1.40%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.15%), Mawana Sugars(down 1.02%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 1.00%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.94%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 0.94%), AVADHSUGAR(down 0.81%) and Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 0.79%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 58.95 points down at 17035.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 260.34 points at 57166.58 at around 11:25AM.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 6.43%), Coal India(up 2.52%), NTPC(up 2.16%), Cipla(up 2.13%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.95%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.83%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.44%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.23%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.22%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.17%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Eicher Motors(down 2.55%), Maruti Suzuki(down 2.37%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.15%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.72%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.54%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.48%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.31%), HCL Technologies(down 1.2%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.16%) and ITC(down 1.13%) were trading in the red.
