The Delhi Airport Monday received a call from the Lahore Air Traffic Control (ATC) about a bomb threat on a flight headed from Iran to China, a source said. When Delhi ATC contacted the pilot to offer help, the pilot refused to land in India, the source added.

According to sources, the call was received around 9.30 am regarding a Mahan Air flight, travelling from Tehran to Gangzhou. “Delhi ATC officials contacted the pilot and asked for directions on landing but the pilot later decided to not land in India and moved towards China. We had offered help but they refused maybe because it was a hoax call,” the source said.

The plane has now left India and will reach China in an hour or two, they added.

More details awaited
