Jaipur: If all goes according to the plan, soon residents of eight cities and 953 villages of Bharatpur and 132 villages of Dhaulpur districts would get pipeline water supply from Chambal. Officials said that the project would benefit more than 37,89,000 residents.
“The project worth Rs 3,106 core has got the necessary clearance from the finance committee of Public Health and engineering Department. It means, soon tender would be floated and work will be allotted,” said a PHED official.
On September 22, TOI had reported that the finance committee of the PHED has approved eight “major” projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore. The pipeline water supply to the Bharatpur and Dhaulpur districts is the important and costliest among these eight projects.
Officials said, the project has been designed to cater to the need of 37,89,000 people at least till 2054. “The project would include construction of mail and tributary pipelines, overhead reservoirs and pumping stations are included in this project. We can expect the project to get complete within next two to three years in phases,” a PHED official added.
The eight cities of Bharatpur district, those would get pipeline water supply under this project are – Bharatpur, Roopwas, Uchain, Kumher, Deeg, Brij Nagar, Kaman and Sikri.
“The project would also include construction of a 37 MCM capacity raw water reservoir. In addition, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 26,794 functional domestic water connections will be released in Dholpur district and 1,66,491 in Bharatpur district,” the PHED official added.
